Blades of Brim is a free endless-runner action game in which you lead your character into battle against swarms of Goons, endless enemies who populate the game's tracks. Along the way you'll upgrade your character, gaining coins, weapons, armour and even pets. Your character can jump, roll and attack to destroy Goons; chaining attacks gives you extra bonuses.
A simple concept
If you've played other endless-runner games you will find most of Blades of Brim pretty familiar. There are no levels as such; each encounter is randomly generated and ends when you're knocked out of action. However, reaching checkpoints contained within the game will let you bank the coins and items you've gained, so all isn't lost when you die. The graphics are cartoony and fun, and while the Goons definitely owe a lot to Despicable Me's Minions, they're charming opponents. The levels are well-designed, with plenty of variety among their three lanes, and the music is suitably stirring. Like most free games of its type, this one relies on in-app purchases to sustain it, and while those are never fun, they're relatively fair here; you should be able to get by without them until you reach quite a high difficulty level.
Run for your life
If you like endless-runner games, Blades of Brim is a playable, well-executed, good-looking example of the genre and definitely worth a look.
